Bitter Winter, Daughter of Sorrow

Bitter Winter,
Daughter of sorrow,
Stretched her wings across the moor.
Unforgiving.
Unendearing.
She seeks to embitter us all.
Desolate Frost,
Lady of despair
Scratched her claws against the door.
Artfully,
Maliciously,
She seeks to cool our hearts.
Shivering trees,
Trembling pilgrims in the dark,
Suffer her banshee screams.
Coldy,
Cruelly,
She seeks to pillage us all.
Barren branches,
Bereft of their dignity,
Fracture under the pressure of her touch.
Callously,
Imperviously,
She seeks to break us all.
Ancestral house,
Guardian of solace,
Shields us from her fury.
A warm caress
A staunt stronghold
She protects us from the storm.
Beloved kin,
Sister of opulence,
Envelopes us with her calm
Our kindle - her smile
Our hearth - her embrace
Her warmth defeats the chill.
